Adsense Optimization Tips
Using Channels To Experiment
Channels provide a simple, free and effective way to monitor your Adsense revenues when you experiment. You can create multiple channels from your Adsense account and use each of them for each color scheme that you implement or each layout or which ever other way you choose to implement. You may also choose to implement the changes only on particular pages for a test run. Channels will let you analyze and identify whether the changes you did are effective and whether they can be rolled out to other pages on your website.
Identifying The Right Ad Format
As you would be aware that there are a large number of ad formats that you can choose from while implementing Adsense on your website. What you may not be aware is that while some ad formats perform extremely well, others fall in the blind spot of your visitors. It is generally believed that wider layouts perform better than taller ones. In fact, the rectangular layouts seem to perform the best. But this selection must be made keeping in view the site and the pages where you are implementing the ad code. The layout must gel in with the site design and must not stand out and spoil your site design itself.
You may also choose to have different ad layouts on the same page since Adsense policies allow you to have up to three ad units per page. What you must keep in mind is that even though you are looking to optimize your ads and earn more, you must not spoil your visitor experience by making the ads 'on the face'. For example, a page with two large rectangular ads (one below the other) just below the title may improve your CTR but your user loyalty would go down drastically.
